With only a few days left before Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iPhone 7 is unveiled, more rumors are pouring in, with the latest suggesting that the device will have a waterproofing rating of IPX7, on par with the Apple Watch. A report by a respected Apple analyst – KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who predicted the launch of IPhone SE, pointed to this fact while also predicting other features expected on the gadget.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the new iPhone will be powered by a new Apple A10 SoC, which can run as fast as 2.4 GHZ. This is a dramatic increase over the A9 silicon installed in the iPhone 6s. The screen sizes of the device are expected to remain unchanged at 5.5 inches and 4.7 inches. Both models screens’ will have a True Tone display, similar to the one on the 9.7-inch iPad Pro.
The 5.5 model is expected to feature a sports dual-camera system with a12-megapixel sensor that will enable light field camera applications and optical zoom. According to the report, the camera is made up of a telephone camera and a wide-angle camera, both with a 12-megapixel sensor. The larger camera is also expected to feature optical image stabilization and a 6p lens.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 7 will be offered in two new case colors, which are piano black and dark black. Space Grey as it is today will be eliminated, meaning iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will be offered in a total of five colors.
The 5.5-inch model is expected to be powered by a 3GB RAM. The extra RAM is considered necessary due to advanced camera processing handled by the dual-camera. The 4.7 model will remain with the 2 GB RAM, similar to the one on iPhone 6S. Apple is also supposed to dump its 16GB and 64 GB option for new 32GB, 128GB tiers.
